Entertaining and informative, reliable and professional with local and up to date knowledge, our wealth of experience is respected by discriminating tour operators and travel agents throughout the world.
Whether it is for an individual or a group, business or pleasure, a Blue Badge Guide makes a good experience great! The Blue Badge is a symbol of excellence in tourist guiding.
We are practical, punctual, reliable and thrive on the unexpected, welcoming individuals or groups, here on business or for pleasure.
Blue Badge Guides are often the ONLY external guides permitted to conduct tours at many attractions, including Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. We bring the sites to life, often telling the stories that are not in the guide books or audio tours. With your own knowledgeable and entertaining guide, you can ask questions and find out more about what interests you.
For those with limited time, a highlight tour will ensure you don’t miss anything important and will put your visit in context. Alternatively you may prefer an in-depth tour of a particular aspect of a collection. Many of our guides have particular specialities.
One of the best ways to explore is on foot. A Blue Badge Guide will give you an entertaining and informative walking tour and help you discover things you would not have found on your own.
If you have a particular interest, ask us about themed tours to ensure you get to see more of what really interests you. From literature to the Beatles, film locations and ghost tours, we can create a tour that is right for you.
It’s not just about history! Blue Badge Guides pride themselves on being up to date and have a comprehensive programme of continual professional development. We love showing what a fascinating and vibrant place contemporary Britain is. Discover music, architecture, fashion and multi-cultural Britain with us.
Hello, I’m Maxine Ford, accredited Blue Badge Tour Guide and member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding. I can provide a wide range of tours in and around London and South East England from short, single location tours to multi-day bespoke tours covering a wide range of interests including homes & gardens, military, historical and ecclesiastical tours or if you just have a few hours to spare, let me know your general interests and I’ll be happy to create a bespoke tour just for you.
My specialisations include Canterbury Cathedral (where I am an endorsed guide), Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace, Dover Castle, Leeds Castle, and Hever Castle, the gardens of South East England and also walking tours of Rye, Hastings, Tunbridge Wells, Canterbury and Cranbrook.
Maxine Ford qualified as an award-winning Blue Badge Guide in 2011 and enjoys working with family groups, societies, students, tour companies as well as businesses looking for ideas for client entertaining and employee recognition events. Although qualified to operate at interesting and historic sites all over the South East of England, Maxine specialises in Canterbury guided tours including guiding Canterbury Cathedral where she has undertaken additional training to become a Cathedral endorsed guide meaning that she is qualified to escort parties of guests without the requirement to book a separate guide for the cathedral. Born and educated in London, Maxine has lived in the South East of England all of her life and, prior to taking-up tour-guiding professionally, worked in the media organising and delivering educational meetings. Maxine says “I have lived in the Canterbury area for the last 20 years, but, as I was born within the sound of Bow Bells some people would still consider me to be a cockney from London!”.
